FAQ
-
What does bookkeeping cost?
Flat monthly pricing, set in advance. No hourly billing and no surprise invoices. After our first call I'll scope your business and quote a fixed fee, so you know the number before you commit to anything.
-
What bookkeeping services do you offer?
I work in QuickBooks Online and serve clients nationwide. Everything runs in the cloud, and I'll handle the setup and walk you through whatever you need to access. If you're in Rhode Island, I'm glad to meet in person.
-
What does a bookkeeper actually do, and do I need one?
Each month I categorize your transactions in QuickBooks Online, reconcile every account, and send your financial statements — profit and loss, balance sheet, and cash flow — with a short summary of what stood out.
-
What if I need more frequent support?
Totally doable. Some clients prefer weekly check-ins or cash flow updates. We can customize the schedule to fit what your business actually needs.
-
Are you a CPA?
No, and here's what that actually means for you. I have a degree in accounting and law and spent more than ten years in public accounting, so I know what your CPA needs and how they need it. What I don't do is sign or file your return. I keep your books accurate and your reporting clean, then hand your CPA a package they can work from without chasing you for answers. If you don't have a CPA yet, I'll introduce you to one I trust.
-
How do I know if my books need a cleanup?
A few things give it away. Your accounts haven't been reconciled in months. Your Profit and Loss shows numbers you can't explain. There's a pile of uncategorized transactions sitting in QuickBooks. Your balance sheet has an Opening Balance Equity line, or a negative number where there shouldn't be one. Your CPA asked you a question last spring that you still haven't answered. If any of that sounds familiar, a cleanup is usually faster and less painful than you're expecting.
-
Do you do taxes?
Nope—but I do make sure your books are tax-ready. I can also coordinate directly with your CPA or refer you to a trusted tax pro, so you’re covered without having to play middleman.
-
Do you help with sales tax?
Yes! I help with setup, tracking, and reporting—especially for online sellers collecting across states.
